Its name comprises Tai and Cuba; Tai comes from Taino, the name of a sea island.
塔伊古巴“是由古巴的海岛”塔伊诺“一词的词头加上”古巴“组成的。”
The people are racially mixed. Taino Indians, Spaniards, Africans, Chinese, Italians, French, German, and even Lebanese people moved to the island and intermingled.
Living in flimsy, thatched, wooden houses may seem a bad choice, given the extreme weather the Taino were exposed to, but it could actually have been a sensible strategy.
